Faithful Companions and Familiars

So sweet and peaceful while she sleeps in the chair next to me while I'm at the computer. If you've read any of my previous posts about my animals you'll know that this little cat is a firecracker! She dominates the home and often chases the other cats and 2 Danes out of a room. Though her name is Nanni we lovingly call her Psycho-kitty. She really is my cat...or probably more correctly I am her human. She's been with us for over 5 years and she is the most wild out of the 2 Bengals we own. I love that trait in her and at times it can be incredibly annoying and painful if you happen to be on the receiving end of her claws. She follows me everywhere, and she even lays outside of the bathroom door as I shower. When I've left a room and if she can't find me, she searches for me with the loudest most haunting and an almost desperate yowl, but as soon as I say her name her normal kitty meow returns as she happily follows my voice.

I should take a picture some time during ritual, she almost demands to be involved! She walks the circle with me, then either lays at my feet or at the altar. She even walks outside with me as I offer the libation and she hates going outside....but she kind of cheats...she hides under my dress...but she's there none the less.

My Great Dane, Raven, unlike Nanni could care less about the rituals, other than wanting to know what kind of incense is being burned. She is my bed hog, and my couch potato sidekick. She always has to be touching me in way or another. She doesn't follow me around, but she sure watches what I do. I often wonder what kind of thoughts go through their heads throughout the day. My other Great Dane, Kula, and two other cats, Nala and Luna are content with just hanging out. They don't take much interest in anything other than a good rub around the ears and back ....that seems to be enough for them.

I'm not sure what my life would be like without these furry creatures, probably a little less hectic at times, but I'm pretty sure it would be pretty lonely. It's a comfort to me knowing that I have these loving animals to come home to every day.

It's 3:00 am...what am I still doing up??

I took a weeks hiatus from my day job and now it's nearing the end. It's my kids spring break and I thought what the heck...I'll take it off too :D The boys had baseball practice all week so we weren't able to go anywhere, but it's sure been nice doing things on my own schedule.

I've opened a jewelry supply shop on Etsy to try and destash my overwelming collection of baubles. I have another bead show coming up next weekend, if I'm able to make it, I should come back with some more treasures to take the place of the stones that I'm selling. Just what I need huh?? Well a girl can't have too many treasures or baubles now can they?

I've also started another blog to sell my Tree of Life pendants and possibly some other jewelry. I'll post the link when I've got everything up and running. I'm having problems getting the pics in there and adding a Paypal widget to it...but that's just because I'm just not computer savvy. I should have it figured out before the end of the weekend though.

I had my danes spayed this week...which is another reason that I took the time off. Did you know that they charge by weight....holy crow!! Well it was a wopping $500....ouch, but it needed to be done! Dogs in heat....nope....definately not my thing!!! When we got our first dane, I definately wanted to breed her...awww how cute will her puppies be, until I read all the work that goes into it, and the possibility of complications....the vet visits...yikes. I also noticed that Raven has a curveture of the spine that I didn't want to have passed down. I don't think it will cause any long term problems, but I can't guarantee it and it wasn't a chance I was willing to take with her or her puppies. So that's that...and now they can go back to being the couch hogs that they are.
I'm also really sad to say that I will have to find another home for my cat Nanni. We've had her for 5 years and within the last couple of years she totally terrorizes the other cats, so much so that they're afraid to eat or do anything if she's around. One cat is now so afraid that she won't even come upstairs. I don't really know what to do....she doesn't like to be picked up at all, she loves to be petted...but on her terms, she will sleep in your lap, again on her terms. AND if you even try to pick her up...claws are out and she's trying to find a way out. She doesn't like to go outside...it scares her...and when she's in the mood to be petted....she definately doesn't want you to stop. She's the size of a kitten, and definately has short mans disease :D All of these traits are exactly what I love about her...well other than the terrorizing part, but as you can tell, it's not going to be easy finding her a suitable home...and I can't bare the thought of what will happen if I can find her a home. Uuugghhh...I'm so sad. Well I have my fingers crossed that I will find someone who'll love her as much as I do....I'll keep you posted.

I Love My Danes!

I just wanted to share a few pictures of my danes. In an earlier post I put a picture of Raven, now it's time for Kula. Here she's all sprawled out on the couch. Though she's a year old, she still has such a puppy face and is so child like. I couldn't figure out why I've never had to clip her nails until I saw her chewing on them, she's just like my kids. She is so sweet though.

Here's a picture of Luna and Kula. Kula gets along with all of the cats...she just likes to chase them but she doesn't nip at them like Raven does. In this pic Luna is sneaking up on Kula.

Here's a picture of Raven and Kula together, they love to chase the light from a Laser Pointer. They are like cats in so many ways....and when they see the pointer come out....it's on and the house is rumbling like we're having a major earthquake. The cats scatter. I don't blame them a bit, it hurts me to get stepped on by these two. But I so love these majestic animals!
