It was a wonderful night! Tonight was the boys Senior Awards night and I left there prouder of my kids than when I had arrived...I didn't know it was possible!
They received numerous awards and left there with an additional $6,000 is scholarships. We knew of 2 that equaled 1/2 of the total they won...but the rest was a complete surprise to all of us. One son is just shy of having his 1st year of college paid for and the other just has a few grand left.
*Happy Dance*
Afterwards we all enjoyed a celebratory dinner...filled with joyful smiles and tons of laughter. I couldn't have asked for a better ending to a beautiful day!

Laptop...how I've missed you!
I just got my laptop back today and I can't tell you how much I missed it! Who would've thought?? The cause to it's crash was an anti-virus program...go figure!?! But, now it's back and all is well again...well it will be after I reinstall some of my programs :)
We've had beautiful weather and were able to watch some ballgames. There's only about a month and a half until the boys graduate....time sure flies! They each were accepted to 4 different universities and have chosen Pacific University, expensive but definitely a good choice for the different medical fields that they're going into. Plus, they're baseball program is really good. The cost for this university is $40,000 a year *gulp* I know...scary huh?? But, Chris has received nearly $30,000 in grants and scholarships and Brandon has received almost $26,000 which cuts down the costs significantly! They're still waiting to hear back on a few more scholarships so the outlook is pretty good. I'm proud of them...they're determined to follow their dreams and they continuously strive to achieve them! I wish I had been that motivated when I was their age :)
Well I'm off to package up my donation pieces that need to be delivered in the morning. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

FAFSA, Scholarships and Grants Oh My!
Well being a parent of seniors is not easy, especially when it comes to preparing them for college! So I decided today that I wanted to share some of the resources that I use or have used to help finance my boys' college education.
Definitely sign your child up at www.fastweb.com . It's an unlimited resource for scholarships that your child can and may qualify for. My boys have applied for over a dozen scholarships each...so far.
Another is www.getcollegefunds.com . Another great site with unlimited resources and information on various scholarships and grants. Now granted this site is for Oregon, but each state has a similar site.
Yourself and your child will have to fill out a FAFSA form. You'll find this at www.fafsa.ed.gov . This will let the prospective college and yourself know what additional financial aid or grants that you may qualify for.
If you're a parent of multiples sign up for a local Mothers of Twins group...or something similar in your area. I had no idea these type of clubs existed! Not only do they offer support for mom's but they also offer scholarships for multiples. That would've been good to know!
Some other great facts that I found out, was that they're are schools, mostly in the eastern states, that offer a 2 for 1 deal or a really nice discounts for twins or multiples entering college. Also a lot of colleges offer automatic scholarships. A lot of these depends on what the students average GPA was in high school and their SAT scores, but hey, every little bit helps!
As I do more searching for resources I'll post them here in case any of you are interested.
